Went for lunch with a large group of family visiting from out of town. Food was ok, service was poor. My mom ordered a salad with grilled tuna on top, and the tuna was cold. An aunt ordered the grilled tuna sandwich, which was inedible. Both pieces of tuna looked disgusting. They sent the tuna back, and we overheard our server complaining about us to a manager, saying we were "bitching about the tuna". We let her know that we could hear their conversation, and she just stared at us.

I REALLY want to like this place more, especially since it's within walking distance. I really love their burgers and wings. But there is an overall snottiness vibe going on in this place and I don't care for it. The bouncers give the impression that they are gods and the bartenders are very flippant. Waitstaff has been hit and miss on the occasions I have been there. Trainwreck usually has decent live music acts though, which is nice to just veg out to while sucking back some beers. Can't get over the holier-than-thou vibe though. Get some new attitudes and I'll update my review.

Went here before heading to Funny Bone at Westport and was very happy with our decision to eat here. The burgers were all delicious and we also started with the seasoned chicken wings. These were some of the best wings I've had, as the seasoning was perfect. If you don't like wings with sauce, as you get a bit messy, these are the ones you want. I paid an upcharge for the bison burger, which had a good flavor, but the size of the burger was smaller than the regular beef burgers on the menu. If you are strictly getting the bison for health reasons, it may be worth it. But if not, I'd recommend staying with the base patty.

Bison burger was good not great as others have posted in my opinion. Food 3-4 stars. Service -1. Terrible. Slow. Server had huge attitude and clearly didn't like her job.

Ventured to the Trainwreck late one night after being letdown with the entire "Westport scene"... Thankfully for the scene, Trainwreck seems to be the only remaining place in the area to go dancing or have what resembles a good time. Bottom line up front: it has a small patio (hooray), a moderately sized dance floor (fist pump), and a descent selection of food/spirits. I enjoyed the atmosphere and was pleased with their staff. However, I would not go out of my way to return here unless something else brought me back to the Westport area.

Still a neighborhood favorite, but I just wanted to chime in that they do NOT have high chairs available. I can completely understand why, but if you are coming here with a kid who needs it, plan accordingly. Fortunately, my wife and I are basically a prepared Boy Scout when we combine our powers. It's like we're Voltron, you know? Coming together to make a Super Parent! But we're nothing like Captain Planet. There's something douchy about that guy... Still a fan of their bison. They have decent options if you want to keep it on the slightly lighter side. Plus, their atmosphere is always nice after a long week at work.

This is one of my favorite spots. I wish it was on the landing still. Their fried guacamole is so delish! Most of their burgers are pretty good as well. Bison is the hubby's fav! I love bands and most of them here are pretty good. Everytime I go to Westport I hit this place up at some point. PS. For all you people watchers the Patio is the place to be in the summer. You see everyone walking by.

I'm here out of town on business from the East coast. I showed up for lunch at the bar and was trying to determine a local brew to try with lunch. Bar tender after taking my order did not acknowledge or make eye contact after repeated attempts. Finally, after the food arrived I was able to order a beer, but based on the lack of motivation of the bar tender I dared not ask about the different brews. If your not a local, leave this place alone.

My bf & I both got the bison burgers. Except, I got mine with mushrooms which somehow didn't taste good. Either it was hormones or it was the way they sauteed the mushrooms. Anyways, the sweet potato fries were okay. Not as good as Trader Joe's version. The bison burger itself was good. When you ask for pickles, don't assume that they will give you a pickle spear which is what I initially thought. The service was great , but I'm not a fan of the bar seats. I wish that they had booths.

I have been to this joint about a half dozen times. Mostly it's been for drinks, but I s have eaten here twice. The place is pretty large. There is a 'bar side' and a 'restaurant side'. There are no walls separating the two so it's pretty open. The bar side just has high four top tables with stools whereas the restaurant side has traditional booths and tables. My last visit: My dish was called The Prospector. It was an open face turkey, ham, and bacon sandwich smoothed in a cheese sauce. Honestly the cheese sauce kind of grossed me out. The sandwich tasted ok but I couldn't eat the whole thing. I ordered a side Caesar salad which was very good. The fries rocked--totally love the fries! The serving sizes were rather large. The service was decent too. I feel you can tell a lot about a place by the cleanliness of the bathroom and the men's room was rather nasty. The lighting was dim and fluorescent. You just wanted to get in and out of there. Overall I would recommend this place for drinks and appetizers but not for family dining or events.

Terrible! Terrible, Terrible . Got a tenderloin sandwich , it was a hard fritter. Just think of a big hard chicken mcnugget. Nasty. Had to ask for tomato, onions, etc . I had asked her before if it was a fritter or real tenderloin . She said they don't make them there. That should of been my clue. My husbands steak was not good either . With drinks it cost us over $40 to get out of there. Never again.

A couple business colleagues took us here for a casual Friday lunch. The place was busy but the service was friendly and efficient. I had one of their bison burgers. They recommend it be done somewhere around medium-rare or medium and the recommendation was spot on: juicy and delicious. The cheese they put on the burger is hard to describe: not so much melted slices as a big slathering of cheese sauce that was also excellent. The side of fries did the trick. As everyone in our group had the same thing I can't comment on any of the other selections but I'm giving it 4 stars on the bison burger alone.
I am in here twice a week at least. I never really go for the food, we just go to unwind and have some drinks. The atmosphere is great, the wait staff is always friendly and expedient, and the wreck wings are awesome. Good live music with friends and cold drinks is kind of hard to beat.

Ok. So I'm in Westport trying not to shudder at the sheer amount of stupidly-spent money (I was at a sci-fi/horror convention, so it isn't like I have room to talk about stupidly-spent money though), and I didn't want to get more than a stone's throw away from the convention hotel. Too much to do. So our options were a bunch of snobby-looking, overpriced restaurants and the Trainwreck. I went in based on the smell. It smelled like someone was cooking a burger the way that burgers were MEANT to be cooked. I'm so glad the universe felt the need to endow me with an overactive olfactory sense. The waitress was great - very friendly, even tried to find me a rubber band so that the wind would stop blowing my hair every which way. She joked with us but didn't show up too much - managed to have a nice date with my hubby. I got some sort of marvelous burger with soft cheddar cheese and my husband got a chicken quesadilla. The food gets a total 5 star rating from both of us. Only complaint is the location, really. And that's my problem. I'm just not comfortable in Westport. I'm going to try the other location though and see how it is.

I like this place for the atmosphere and the live music. Clientele consists of mostly of those in the 40s+ range, but they know how to have a good time. There's dancing, but a lack of grinding and tongues hanging out, which is what you'd find in a 20s dance floor, so it's refreshing Came here for a birthday party bar crawl last year, however, and one of the members of our party was not allowed to drink because his license was expired. EXPIRED. "I'll let you in, but you CAN'T DRINK!" Gee, how nice of you. It was obviously him and it was obviously a legit state issued I.D., and showed that he was definitely of age, but they still wouldn't let him drink. And then the bouncers hovered over our damn table to make sure none of us shared our drinks with him! I mean, really? How old are we? Oh wait.... 26 BECAUSE HIS I.D. SAID SO. Oh man. Power-tripping bouncers are one of my least favorite things ever. That put me off enough that I don't know if I would be back if I still lived in the county...but I probably would just because it was one of the more fun bars in the area. But take my review and do with it what you will.

Staying in St. Louis for one night and a friend who lives in the area recommended for my husband and I to try this place as it was very close to our hotel. On the super hot day, we were greeted with very cool A/C at Trainwreck Saloon. We arrived while Happy Hour was still going on which everything was a $1. I ordered an Appletini which was awesome. Just enough of each flavor!! Yummy! My husband ordered the Southwest Chicken Wrap with their veggie slaw. I had a 1/2 sized Chef salad with 1000 Island dressing. The food was awesome and we both told each other that we would definitely eat here again if we came back to St. Louis. Our server was extremely friendly and kept coming back to check in on how we were doing and clearing plates and bowls in a timely manner. Decent and or reasonable prices for food as well! The inside decor is like a traditional old Saloon style. Volume level was on the quiet side when we were there. They offer live music starting at 9pm, which I am sure is quite entertaining.

I organized a work Happy Hour at Trainwreck, and though I wasn't there for the very beginning, they were very easy going over the phone to set it up. While there, I had a few drinks and shots. No complaints there - as if there would be! I also ordered some potato skins. They were pretty darn good! Usually, when you order skins, they hollow out so much of the potato, it really is just the skin. These still had plenty of potato left in them - much appreciated after a few adult beverages! Our service was pretty damn slow, but I'm giving them slack. It looked like our waitress not only had the tables around the back bar but was also the only bartender!

Great food and great atmosphere. Great service too. Fried ravioli and fried cannenolli was excellent. A little disappointed that they took the fried cheesecake off the menu. I live in California but when I am in town, I come here for these 3 things. So when they took the fried cheesecake off the menu, I only gave them a 3 stars.

Why yes.. yes it was... We went here for lunch during the work week. The meal ran late because they were so busy. The strangest thing I have *ever* heard of is their menu has appetizers that are not offered until after 2pm. Now I have heard of main courses not being offered until after a certain time but appetizers? This is basically a Friday's or similar of it's ilk. The food is average and the atmosphere is loud and comradery is to be found at the bar and at the tables. Great if that is what you are looking for. If it is food you are looking for maybe you should just keep looking somewhere else... The burger I got was barely average and the fries were the same. A total dismal meal. They were out of the Snicker's bar pie much to the dismay of my large party. TLDR: If you need a Friday's type place to eat, this is it. If you are on a time schedule for lunch do *NOT* come here. You will be late.

The grilled cheese is fab on nice, crispy sourdough. The fries that come with it are good as are the pickles. Good stuff. Three stars come from the service. Whenever I have gone here with my coworkers (all female) we seem to get lackluster service compared with the male patrons. We have all noticed this...it's pretty obvious. For instance, we have been seated before men and not rec'd our food until after. I guess the female servers there think the men tip better and I am sure they do but only because they get much better service.

We were staying at the Sheraton for a weekend get-a-way and this place is just across the street. We stopped in for an early appetizer while we waited for friends and had mushrooms, zucchini, and sweet potato fries. They were large portions (perfect for 3 people) and the wait staff was pleasant and attentive, just what we needed. We will be back.

This place is okay...not bad, but nothing really special about it either. Food is mediocre, drinks are alright. Just overall okay. I do hear their bison burgers are pretty good though. I was a bit confused when I walked in here. It calls itself a saloon and had a bar-type feel to it...but there were also a good number of young children here too. Maybe it's just me...but I don't think children belong in a bar...shrug.

Fun place, usually really busy....packed! They have some great cover bands.. Minimal door costs and the liquors reasonably priced. Very old style taverny feeling. Two full bars, indoor and outdoor seating, stage and live music on weekends. I'll go back for sure.
(4)
Jamie J.
I have been here many times to hear bands and go dancing. It's a great place to go with your girlfriends for a night out. The service has always been very good, and I've never had to wait too long to get a drink. I've only had dinner there once, and the food was very good. The fries and burgers are great.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the hugest fan of the nightlife in the Westport area, but this is definitely the best bar in that area. They always have live music on weekend nights, which is really fun because there is a great dance floor. The last time I was there they had a really good cover band. It's also really spacious with a lot of tables and seating, so you're never stuck standing up. They also have a nice bar with a decent draft selection. There are a ton of happy hour drink and appetizer specials, so this is a good place to hit up after work. They also have a really great patio that is so relaxing to sit at after a hard day's work! The only annoying thing is that the bars close about a half hour earlier in Westport. And, this is kind of a place to watch out for creepy, staring old dudes. They occasionally pop up, so watch out. But, if you are in the Westport area this is the bar I would pick!

Even though I have been to Westport hundreds of times I never took the time to go into the Trainwreck. Went there on my last trip with a friend of mine. The atmosphere was nice. They have a good selection of beers. The waitress was terrific in helping me find the right one for me. The pork chop was very good and the wings were your standard hot wings. Will definitely go back.

In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving, I would like to introduce you to the Trainwreck. After Great Aunt Toni asks for the fifty-sixth time why you aren't married, Mom has had too much to drink, the nieces and nephews are screaming they hate Turkey, Grandma's dog "that NEVER does that" just peed on the sofa and Dad keeps eyeing the shotgun... you need a break. And by a break I mean one extra-strength $3.00 Martini after the other, keep 'em coming. Thanksgiving night: the boy and I crossed the road to escape and meander thru Westport, on a mission for the sort of inebriated relief only epic quantities of alcohol can bring. Behold, the Trainwreck. Here in Chicago, we dream of top-shelf drink prices like this (though most of us are transplanted from this Midwestern suburb). Hence why I wound up drunker than I have ever been in my life (Which for me means about three drinks). "The one thing keeping me upright is my very realistic, mortal fear of your father." Said my date. Poor Guy. Live music (the singer was a bizarre love child of Fred Durst. I found this hysterical) and few more drinks helped. Good times and more importantly, necessary Holiday Stress relief!

I grew up going to Trainwreck and always has positive things to say. However, we went there for a bachelorette party and had a completely unpleasant experience. We were not a group of young, wild, out of control women, but mature and just looking for a nice place to have fun that wasn't downtown. We first went to the dining section, as the sign said "Please Seat Yourself." Most people were sitting but others standing- there were not very busy at all, but we didn't find at one 8-top table. We were told that we were not allowed to stand there and couldn't seat ourselves (despite what the sign said). We were also told by the manager that we had to order food to be in that area, even though most people over there were just drinking. We were without a doubt targeted and stereotyped. If we had been rude or inappropriate, I could justify their behavior, but we were nothing but polite. Trainwreck was a true trainwreck. Their customer service was non-existant and I will never go back. Truly disappointing.
(1)
Aaron F.
The Train-wreck is standard fare for workers in the area. The food is above average, and the waitstaff is courteous, although they can be a bit on the slow side. Overall, it's an excellent lunch venue with a large selection and flavorful foods.
(4)
Stephanie S.
I really like this place! The music is usually always good, and consists of cover bands. The dance floor is tiny, but that's okay. The place gets really crowded on the weekend, so if you want a table, get there EARLY. I took off one star because not only are the bartenders unfriendly, the waitresses are SLOOOOOW.
(3)
Kelly R.
The food was pretty good and the restaurant itself is very large and accommodating. I guess I just wasn't really impressed by any aspect here, though. I enjoyed my meal, although I think they went a little too crazy on the whole "seasoned" fry idea. "Would you like a side of fries with your pepper and lowry's?"I had a tasty chicken sandwich with bacon and soft chedder which is a pretty genius idea actually. I just felt it could have been a bit better. The service was definitely lacking because I feel like we waited almost 40 mintues for our food to arrive on an un-crowded, Tuesday evening. I've heard a lot of people mention it can be really smokey, but fortunately, we didn't have to endure any of that. A fine experience, but not one that I'll repeat anytime soon if given the choice.

Jeremy W.
Very good place to check out after going to the funny bone. They have a good drink selection and the cover band is pretty good.
(4)
Andrew K.
Veggie burgers are pretty good - when they have them. Portions are not skimpy, and the side of fries are way too much for me to finish. I usually wander down here when I'm working late or during the weekend. I order my veggie burger and a draft beer to sip while waiting for my meal, which usually times out perfectly with the last quaff. Nights are usually busy and loud with music from bands and chattering patrons; weekend days are much more subdued. In all it's not bad, and certainly convenient to my office, but I wouldn't drive across town to eat here.
(3)
Drew P.
They usually have good live music, good service and the food isn't all that bad either. Bison burgers are excellent and the salads are huge.
(4)
Merith K.
I only had an appetizer here, but the homemade chips with queso dip was amazing! Everyone at my table was trying to get in on it! The very sweet waitress we had later at night made me a delicious cocktail, peach vodka with lemonade, her idea, and it was so good! She even put it in a tall glass so I could sit and be social with my friends longer without having to drink more! Live band, and a great time overall.
(5)
Andrea E.
I didn't even know they had food there! Now that I've read the other posts, I am aware. Good to know! I've been here about 6 times, but it's always been after 9pm (could explain the food ignorance). They have a nice little dance floor and the bands on Friday nights are pretty cool. It is smoky, but when I'm dancing in a club or at a bar, I just take it as a given that I'm going to go home smelling like an ashtray. The vodka and cranberries are pretty strong.

Amanda Z.
Totally different type of atmosphere than at the Rock Hill location, but not a bad bar, and considering it's in Westport (which is generally 100% not my scene) probably the best place to hang in this general area. The music is generally pretty good here, whether it's an original band or a cover band (I especially like the guy that imitates John Mayor and Johnny Cash in the same set). Also, the prices aren't bad, the menu is decent, and the service is pretty solid. There are a lot of veggie options, so it's not a difficult sports bar for a vegetarian to eat at, though probably pretty tough for a vegan. (lots of cheese, for which I say WOOHOO!) The outdoor seating is great, and there's a ton of indoor seating, both in at the bar and in the restaurant. If you want to sit in non-smoking, however, you have to be eating, which is a little ridiculous. Good news is, the smoking section isn't one of those cloud over your head, go home reeking of a bar, kind of smoking section. So, if you are just drinking, don't worry too much about the smoke. The crowd is a lot of business people getting off work, but there are plenty of college kids and mid to late twenties kids just hanging out watching the Cardinal's game, so the crowd is best described as mixed. If I'm forced to hang out in Westport, this is always going to be the place I am pulling for to hang.

I've never been here for the 'bar' side of things, we always come for lunch. I wouldn't consider this location a 'dive bar'. The one on the landing, yes. This is one of our favorite places for lunch. The food quality is good and the selections varied with some unique items. Above average bar food. I love the Philly though others find it too cheesy or gooey. Maybe melted provel is just gooey? I dunno but I think its awesome with the sweet potato frieds. Service is typically good but it does get crowded at lunch hour. Parking at Westport Plaza can be a huge PITA at lunch time as well.
(3)
Rissa C.
Kind of ho-hum for a popular St. Louis chain. It's all rather meh. It seems like they only have cover bands that cover every song you'd expect to hear. This place isn't terrible but it's nothing special. The only thing worth mentioning are their Wreck Wings. Try them. They are delicious.
(2)
Koli F.
Not bad. For being a themed bar, I imagined it to be a lot more tacky than it actually was. It's bar food, but it was good. I had the Santa Fe chicken wrap... it turned out to be closer to chicken quesadillas than an actual wrap (guess I expected some lettuce). My husband had the Philly, & he thought it was almost too cheesey as well. Kinda rich, but good. We had good service, fun atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks, & better than we expected bar food.

The Trainwreck Saloon is located in Westport Plaza, and has plenty of patio seating with nice umbrellas. Inside, the decor is that of a semi-classy to casual saloon/pub, complete with stained glass fixtures, lots of wood and red walls. Trainwreck was crowded the Saturday that I went, even though it was 3pm, which hints at the popularity. Once seated, we ordered the sweet potato fries and cannelloni bites to start, and I must say that they are very tasty. My husband got the triple cheese burger, and he loved it. I got the club, and it was a good club. Our waitress was very nice, and we were attended to throughout our visit. If you want a nice bar that serves good burgers and sandwiches, this is a great place to go. Trainwreck does bar food to perfection, but don't expect anything outstanding or gourmet. Some of the other patrons were very noisy, so do take that into consideration.

Allison K.
Our waitress was bitter and sneered instead of smiling...but that didn't make me dislike my wonderful chicken burger and sweet potato fries (YUMMM!) My bf and I also tried the baked ravioli which I heard I "had to do" while in St. Louis. They were super good! Clean place with TVs for sports watchers and a big patio. All in all, cool place.

I like the trains running up above. MO should have indoor air quality laws. I was in the No Smoking section but it drifts in. Not really their fault. It is a bar. The person I was with did not like their bison burger. My steak was a little too fresh and tough. Mid rare was really a solid medium.
(4)
Ryan S.
OK for lunch, but as previously mentioned can quickly get smoky and crowded, and service sometimes is lacking. I *did* like going here for the bison burgers, though; just make sure you get them medium-rare or redder.

Wow. Wish I can warn you her name but if the rest of the employee are half as bad it's bad deal. I hope someone from there reads this. My to-go salad takes forever, granted it's during a convention. However when I tell her if the ticket is still up and cooks are behind, to go ahead and cancel it. We realize it's been ready, just sitting there. I acknowledged this and just excuses it by saying she's been busy with other people. I then walk out with the salad that's making me late to be hollard by her outside the restaurant saying she needs a payment. I say "saaay whaaa" she asked if I left my payment. OF COURSE I DID! She replied "o it's cause I didn't see one".. She would've seen one if she actually checked. Next- she entered the wrong salad. I go back for a refund, and tip her an extra 2. How's the tip for just soup and getting shouted at? I asked her to check her books before assuming someone didn't pay but AGAIN, Excuses.. She replies "it was very chaotic that's all"... Obviously she has a huge problem with owning her faults and can't for the sake of her job in costumer service just do the right thing and say "sorry". Lack of integrity. Have fun with that;)

A few of us visited here tonight. They had great drink specials, and a live band. The service was quick and the waitress was nice but not very friendly, not her fault she was just super busy and was running around constantly. We all ordered their well-known Brakeman's burgers which were great. The place was definitely loud almost to a point where it was annoying, because it was very hard to hear what my friends were saying, who are sitting just opposite of me. One thing I do not like about this place is on weekends they charge $5 cover charge. I think if patrons are coming to your establishment and spending money that should not be paying to get in.Other than that this place is fine and I would probably visit again but during lunch time.

This was the first time visiting the general area. I personally think this place is a must- but the band that played tonight covered a lot of metal/rock (which is my absolute fav). Definitely a fun bar. I loved the band that was playing tonight.

This place is terrible. Everything we had (wings, potato skins, fried ravioli, burger and fries) all had a weird plastic taste to it. VERY limited vegetarian options. Seriously, go ANY where else-there are so many other places within steps that are exponentially better.
(1)
Jillian C.
The wings are good, but the dinner menu is limited. Very typical American bar food menu but on the more boring side. There were only wraps, chicken sandwiches, paninis, and burgers with a random selection of pricier entrees like fried shrimp and top sirloin. Nothing really jumped out at me as being a WOW must try! Ordered the brat burger. Bratwurst party was juicy but it was very basic. Nothing to get excited over. Selection of beer is okay as well. Nice atmosphere. I'd come back just go order some wings to go.

Great brat burger. I had seasoned fries which were perfect. Sharon enjoyed the Dijon chicken sandwich with potato salad on the side. We'll enjoy our return someday.

Stumbled into this place with some coworkers while we were in town for a conference because it was right outside our hotel. Great find! We had about 4 hours to kill in the afternoon before our banquet in the evening, so naturally we were excited to hit up the $3 happy hour domestic drafts! Service was very friendly and the place was unique. I also ordered the toasted ravioli as an app because it's apparently a "st Louis tradition" they were fabulous! Loved the environment of this place and it seemed to be a popular spot!

Trainwreck wasn't anything spectacular or amazing. I was in town for business and this was in walking distance to my hotel. Also, I need to realize my definition of walking distance is different than others, especially when I'm told I can't walk to anything around there. It was about a half mile from the Comfort Inn....anyways.... The place is in, what I would describe as a strip mall without the mall. Mostly bars and restaurants in the middle of a business park, kinda odd. Trainwreck is huge, I couldn't find the entrance it's so big. But, when I walk in to sit at the bar, it was a tiny bar for the size of this place. I mean, really made no sense, I'd say 10 seats max. Maybe there's another one hidden away? On to the food. I ordered the Bison burger as it has been suggested here on trusty Yelp as well as the hotel staff. It was pretty boring and bland. They didn't ask how I wanted it cooked and it came out a little more than medium, which is better than overcooked. But it really tasted no different than any other generic burger, especially for the $2 more. It just had no flavor. It was also pretty tiny. Now, the seasoned fries were excellent similar to crab fries (old bay seasoning). They were the highlight of the meal. The bartender was overall friendly and the beers were decently priced. I may come back to try something else but I certainly wouldn't recommend the bison burger or sitting at the small bar.

We popped in on a Saturday night to check out a local band and grab a bite to eat. My husband ordered the bison burger and loved it. (I know some reviewers stated they weren't asked how they wanted it cooked, etc., but that wasn't the case with our server.) I had the gouda and bacon burger. Not bad. The seasoned fries were excellent! They had some good drink specials going on as well. Our server was excellent!! Very attentive and on the ball!

Decent bar, but I wish they had more wheat beer selection. Maybe it was just that they didn't have any on the particular trip I made here with my coworkers after our holiday potluck. They had the standard stuff like Blue Moon though, and Boulevard, which was fine by me. But yeah, was hoping for a bit more. I didn't try the food, but if it's like the other Trainwreck I've been to in Kirkwood, I'd rate it as A-OK. Nothing fancy, but nothing terrible either. Service was pretty good from the bartenders. I liked the decor and the train set they had set up going around the place. Very cute. I don't really come out to Westport much, but now that I know this place is here, I might come back again for a burger sometime.

The bison burger is amazing and the staff are friendly and accommodating. This was my go to dinner spot for a few months while traveling in St. Louis. Not just a bar - really great American food with some surprisingly healthy options. Also, great cover bands with a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend to business travelers staying in the area.

We went for dinner at this local hotspot. They had live music and wanted to charge us a cover to get in. We insisted that we were only there for dinner so they let us sit on the patio. We ordered the battered mushrooms, combo wings and the bacon cheddar burger which came with fries. All good except the burger. I ordered med rare but was told the cooked only rare, med or well (huh?). I prefer a rarer burger vs well so I went with rare. Not a good choice. The very rare burger came out with a nasty "soft" cheddar cheese (sauce) which, along with the blood, caused my untoasted buns to get extremely soggy, very quickly. One word...inedible. I sent it back and they removed it from my check. I will attribute them with good fried foods though. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The wings, both spicy and their specialty (dry rubbed) were tasty. They get 3 stars because of their inability to cook a med rare burger and for not toasting their buns... Otherwise is give them 4.

This place is aptly named... Took FOREVER to have lunch. Literally had to get out of my chair and corner the waitress at the server station to get our check. No one asked me how my food tasted and I didn't like it really. I had a brat burger - it was prepared like a reuben but with dijon instead of thousand island dressing, and it just didn't work for me. The fries were delicious - crunchy and well seasoned. Wouldn't have really been a good value had I eaten my entire burger - it just added insult to injury that I paid $9.50 for 3/4 of an order of fries while being ignored. There are about a thousand places in the STL area that I will have to try before I come back here.

I have loved the Trainwreck for decades. I started when there was only the Rock Hill location, and migrated easily to the Westport restaurant. The Westport location mirrors the look and feel of the original, from the wood floors, tables and walls to the model train running around the top of the main room. The best things on the menu are the staples: Brakeman's Basket (hamburger) or the Triple Cheese Basket (hamburger with a lot of cheese). For the side - there's only one real choice: seasoned fries. It's like the most perfect lunch experience in St. Louis.

Slowest service, no one seated us when it says wait for hostess. Employees were chatting around their work station, no they were not working. I had to go outside to look if their was a hostess around to assist us. Which one came along a few minutes after that. However, when she did come around to help us, she was helpful. I did order the bison Gouda burger since that was recommended and ordered it with sweet potato fries. Bison isn't very fatty so if you are looking for a juicy burger, you don't want this. Lol. The fries were brown, tells me it was a little overcooked. Food to me was okay, guess I need to order something else to give this place another try. Great for beer selection though.

I had the spinach salad which was bland and minimal ingredients compared to the amount of spinach. I also had the veggie burger which wasn't very good. The bun was ok, but I had to ask for cheese lettuce tomato and onion on the side since it came with the bun only.

I went here with some friends to do some drinking. The train wreck was a good bar but the rest of the places around here were either closed or dead. So if you're going out for the night and want to hit more than one bar I wouldn't go here but if you just want dinner and/or a couple drinks this is not a bad choice.

I was in St. Louis for business and I ended up here after a long day of meetings with some coworkers. This place had a fun vibe and just an overall comfortable feel to it. I would definitely come back to it if I ever found myself in the area once more. I had the steak and shrimp for dinner and was not disappointed.

Loved the burger I had! It was nice weather and we enjoyed sitting outside on a warm evening. The service was ok, not memorable either way. They were packed tho, which is a good sign.

I had heard good things about the Trainwreck and learned that it is appropriately named, based on my experience there on 5/9/14. There was a very minor wait to be seated on a beautiful evening where the place was hopping and patio seating was at a premium. I had the pleasure of talking with the manager (owner?) during my brief wait, a nice gentleman who was helping everywhere he could as they were quite busy. Once seated, things went downhill. The server, Barbie, may have just been having a bad day, but still left me with such a strong impression that I don't plan on returning. The food was mediocre and generally bland. It seems to me this is more of a convenient drinking establishment for the nearby activities or just being close in proximity to a couple nearby large employers. If you're looking to have drinks, sit on the patio and potentially hear a band play, probably a good choice. If you're looking for an average restaurant with average service, you be doing yourself a favor by going to Applebee's, TGI Friday's or the likes.

Good food. Great waitress, Holly. The chicken Dijon was huge. A little messy but worth it.

Okay it's a bar with a kitchen. There are lots of tvs and beer. It was fine. I'm will also admit to being a snob about chain places and places which feel like chains. Trainwreck Saloon feels like a chain. Very decently priced, lots on tap, good for groups and our waitress was wonderful even though it was right after work and they were slammed.

Awesome food, drinks and live music but the classic rock cover bands tend to draw the older crowds.

Pretty good spicy chicken sandwich. Fried pickles were not that great. My son loved watching the train go around.

Food is decent. Dancing is silly. Have had some great cover bands. Fairly noisy and hard to stick together as a group. There's also this sewage smell that wafts around near the front bar. I prefer the bar near the patio.

Visiting since it's nearby my hotel on business. My coworker and I are from out of state. A lot was closed, so we settled for Trainwreck. The host/bouncer was incredibly condescending to our questions, but my coworker wanted to overlook it and eat. Our server seemed like we were an inconvenience, and gave minimal effort to at least put on a smiling face, uncomfortably so. Our appetizer wings (all drummettes) were covered in black pepper and salt to the point of being pretty unacceptable. My bison burger was smothered in barbecue sauce to the point of masking any taste of the meat, and while requested medium-rare, came out well-done. My coworker's bratwurst burger luckily came out a just fine, but the fries that came with both were under a wash of salt and black pepper. I'll definitely be advising against when my next set of coworkers are due to fly in.

Solid three stars for me....the environment and decor are warm ---I have been twice and I don't think the chairs are very comfortable. I kept sliding out of the wooden chair as it didn't have a very relaxed back on it. I ordered the fireman's basket it was fish and although decent wasn't a good value--it was a small square piece of cod nothing special. The salad was good with red onions and a few artichokes on it which was nice. I also had a club sandwich here on another day and the bacon was exceptional but clubs aren't something I typically order so I am not a club sandwich connoisseur by any means....I would go here to drink anytime as I like the atmosphere and if your hungry you can order something and take the edge off but it isn't somewhere I would choose to go simply based on ambiance and food. I really enjoyed my server melissa she deserved 5 stars.....!!!!

Went with some friends and 3 out of 4 dishes had to be sent back. My Gouda bacon burger was not hot. My husbands fries were cold and my friend had a cold sandwich and cold fries. They reheated the burgers (both had bites out of them and were put back on the grill which I'm pretty sure is a health code violation.) but after a few more bites I could see how pink mine was. I talked to the waitress who said it was because I got bison but my friend got the same sandwich and hers wasn't pink at all. Overall very disappointing and VERY expensive considering the quality.

Decent menu. I really liked the Bison burger. LOVE the sweet potato fries. Drinks are good. At times, the band can be a little loud to eat dinner and try to have a conversation, but if it's a good band, which often it is, then we just deal with it. We have been here many times, as it's close to our home so we go for dinner or to meet up with friends for drinks and appetizers. We have never had a problem with the service being slow, and they have always been very friendly.

I can't believe I've never written a review for this trainwreck location. This is a great spot and one of the ONLY businesses to survive consistently in the westport restaurant area. I am slightly partial to the location because it's where my fiance and I met and always have good memories here But in addition to that they tend to get some pretty great bands on the weekend. Their menu is excellent. The bison burger is a must try, most places murder a bison burger, but the trainwreck does it right. Beer is standard, don't go looking for anything adventurous and stick to the bucket of bud light. Great atmosphere, usually gathers a great professionals happy hour based on the location and really overall just a good place to hang out with some friends.

Bad experience from start to finish! We had a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday. Our waitress walked past us over and over again until finally we asked her if we could just order our drinks in which her response was.. sure I will be right back! (Your already standing here can we just order our beer already!) when she finally took the order it took another 20+ minutes of waiting to grab us a couple beers and a glass of wine. Instead of taking our order right then she walks off to the large table next to us (who was seated after us I might add) and takes their order.. as she began to walk away we flagged her down to get our orders because we were already at our limit with the lack of service. I ordered the grass-fed bacon cheddar burger Well Done with fries. The fries were very over seasoned (normally I love seasoned fries) but these were straight salt! It just seemed to me that maybe they seasoned them twice or something by accident?? My burger was PINK inside! Gross! (Um, what happened to well done?) I ended up just eating it all around the outside edge where the burger actually appeared slightly cooked - it was a good burger though! We frequently found our server chatting it up at the bar with coworkers and neglecting to check her tables. One group sitting to the other side of us actually cancelled their order and walked out they were so sick of waiting! The experience took from 7:15-9:30! That's just stupid I'm sorry there is NO excuse for that. They had some cover band that began to play at 9:00 but honestly it was kind of laughable.. not that they were bad but that they played songs from the early 90's so it really only attracted the 30 something and up crowd. Just bad bad experience and will NOT go back and definitely will NOT tell friends to visit. Honestly I will probably make a point to tell people not to waste their time going there. The girl got a $5 tip which I didn't even want to give that! They make no apologies whatsoever for the crappy service. The night ended on a great note (Sarcasm) when the birthday girl ended up having ketchup spilt on her from a busser losing a plate and it landing on her! Geez thanks for the great experience NOT!

Food is good, prices are fine. It gets really busy for lunch and has taken up to 45 minutes to get our food. I'd eat here again maybe when it's not as busy or I have some time to kill.

I've been here a couple of times and it's always about the same. It's a decent place to meet up but that's about it. I did check in with Foursquare (Yelp is my first love ...) and bonus, got free ravioli because I did. Those were very good but the salad I also ordered was basically a big bowl of iceberg lettuce with a few pieces of artichoke, some croutons and cheese. I could not eat it, just picking out the artichokes and croutons. It could be because now I am so used to field greens but also surprised it was so loaded with lettuce and little else. Not surprised for what is more like a bar to me. Service was very good so no complaints there.

Went here for lunch when I was at Westport for a conference. It's huge and even though it was busy, we got seated within 5 minutes. The menu is pretty big. I ordered the Mexican ravioli and a salad. Our waitress was quick and efficient. I wish that my salad had come out first but it didn't. The salad was ok. Some of the lettuce was a little brown. The ravs were great, though the sauce that came with them (maybe a marinara and ranch mix? But didn't taste good). I just used ranch from my salad. We got separate checks easily and everything was quick. I'd go back!

I was talked back out to West Port- to the Trainwreck Saloon this time. This saloon does not have the same cool caboose outdoor area as the original Trainwreck Saloon, but they had a great cover band named "Slam" m.facebook.com/slamstl?_… The band had male & female singers PLUS trumpet & trombone players to increase the range of what they played. I even heard well played rap & slow songs from a BAND! The bar interior was dark wood tavern/saloon with 18 beers on draught & few flat panel TVs. This is contrasted by being in a mall and the floor plan being a circle instead of open. The West County crowd seemed to enjoy it enough to pay the $5 cover. WeCo (... WOW, that fits them in more ways than one) crowd did the shift your weight from right foot to the left foot and back again then repeat dance... OK, there was a few exceptions (visiting WeCo?) The place, or probably it was the musical diversity of the band, was more enjoyable than I had expected. I am going with an A-OK for a place in a WeCo mall- THAT IS A COMPLIMENT. WeCo= West County, We Company (corporate office parties), "WE are trying to party just with our immediate COmpany"... I sure I will come up with more.

Trainwreck is a perfect name for this restaurant as the entire dining experience was indeed a trainwreck. I waited a long time for a table though it was not very crowded. We got our drinks promptly but that was the only thing we got in any kind of a timely fashion. Our server looked and acted like she was half asleep and perhaps she was trying to catch up on her sleep by taking naps in the kitchen. I ordered the bison burger which I had been told was fantastic. However mine seemed to have been made with the hide of a bison rather than actual meat. It was Sooooooo overdone. I told my server who eventually rectified the situation but in the mean time a manager named Jenny came to our table presumably to apologize. She kinda apologized but her condescending tone and 'I really don't have time for this' attitude made it feel more like an insult than an apology. In the end the food was just okay and certainly not worth the trainwreck of the experience.

Service -1. Terrible. Slow. Server had huge attitude and clearly didn't like her job.

in town for business & went here with coworkers since we were staying at the nearby Sheraton. Fun place for happy hour, great wings & a dj started up later in the evening.

(3)Don R.
(4)Lesley S.
(4)Chris V.
(1)Kat V.
(3)Deryk L.
(2)Lauren E.
Had a pretty good bison burger here! Fun and laid back atmosphere.
(3)Jo Jo Y.
(1)Cliff M.
(4)Scotty R.
I've been to Trainwreck three times, twice in the afternoon for lunch or drinks and then one evening, just for drinks. I like the décor, pretty cool dive-bar type of feel to it. Their draft beer selection (16-17 types, I believe) was decent. Service was good, quite friendly. They had a band playing that did nothing for me, but that's just my personal taste talking and no reflection on the restaurant. The one time I did eat lunch there I had a bison burger which was somewhat dry. It was lunch and busy, so I'll give it another shot in the future and see how the food fares. Overall, a decent experience that makes me want to return.
(3)Todd S.
I am in here twice a week at least. I never really go for the food, we just go to unwind and have some drinks. The atmosphere is great, the wait staff is always friendly and expedient, and the wreck wings are awesome. Good live music with friends and cold drinks is kind of hard to beat.
(4)Alex F.
Nothing special mediocre at best!

(4)Christine F.

Had dinner here last night. It was within walking distance of the Sheraton Westport Chalet. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere.

(4)Jean P.
(3)Quiel D.
(3)Kathi M.
Why yes.. yes it was...
(2)Jill L.
(3)Amanda H.
great food and beer!
(4)Colby M.
(5)Stephanie I.
(3)Alyssa S.
Fun place, usually really busy....packed! They have some great cover bands.. Minimal door costs and the liquors reasonably priced. Very old style taverny feeling. Two full bars, indoor and outdoor seating, stage and live music on weekends. I'll go back for sure.
(4)Jamie J.

Good bar. Great menu. Great music. Fast service. Big. Clean bathrooms. :) I will be coming back!

(1)Aaron F.
The Train-wreck is standard fare for workers in the area. The food is above average, and the waitstaff is courteous, although they can be a bit on the slow side. Overall, it's an excellent lunch venue with a large selection and flavorful foods.
(4)Stephanie S.
(3)Kelly R.
(3)Jeremy W.
Very good place to check out after going to the funny bone. They have a good drink selection and the cover band is pretty good.
(4)Andrew K.
(3)Drew P.
They usually have good live music, good service and the food isn't all that bad either. Bison burgers are excellent and the salads are huge.
(4)Merith K.
(5)Andrea E.
(4)Amanda Z.
(4)Stacy G.
(3)Rissa C.
(2)Koli F.
(4)Thirza S.
Great bison burgers. Love their fries, too.
(4)matt f.
Great food, better atmosphere. Very good venue for hanging out at the bar or catching a live band. Good crowd, good beers, good time.
(5)Jennifer B.
(4)Allison K.
(4)Takaki K.
Pretty good food for a reasonable price. The patio was nice.
(3)Annie G.
I like the trains running up above. MO should have indoor air quality laws. I was in the No Smoking section but it drifts in. Not really their fault. It is a bar. The person I was with did not like their bison burger. My steak was a little too fresh and tough. Mid rare was really a solid medium.
(4)Ryan S.
OK for lunch, but as previously mentioned can quickly get smoky and crowded, and service sometimes is lacking. I *did* like going here for the bison burgers, though; just make sure you get them medium-rare or redder.
(3)Ryan T.
Good stuff. Cool spot, had a live band starting up as I was finished with my spicy buffalo chicken sandwich. If your in the area this is a great place to hang
(5)Naughty W.
Have fun with that;)
(1)Jericho R.
(4)Tori R.
This was the first time visiting the general area. I personally think this place is a must- but the band that played tonight covered a lot of metal/rock (which is my absolute fav). Definitely a fun bar. I loved the band that was playing tonight.
(5)Jaime K.
This place is terrible. Everything we had (wings, potato skins, fried ravioli, burger and fries) all had a weird plastic taste to it. VERY limited vegetarian options. Seriously, go ANY where else-there are so many other places within steps that are exponentially better.
(1)Jillian C.
(3)Tom L.
Great brat burger. I had seasoned fries which were perfect. Sharon enjoyed the Dijon chicken sandwich with potato salad on the side. We'll enjoy our return someday.
(5)Steven Y.
Food was good, service was good and live music is always a plus. Their seasoned fries are fantastic and they give you a whole lot of them. Their Bison burgers are top notch!
(5)Cristine P.
(5)Brandon E.
(3)Leslie H.
(3)Kate B.
(3)Lauren S.
(5)Cheryl R.
(3)Charleen S.
(2)Barbara K.
Louis.
(5)Darlene R.
(2)Vrati D.
I had the spinach salad which was bland and minimal ingredients compared to the amount of spinach. I also had the veggie burger which wasn't very good. The bun was ok, but I had to ask for cheese lettuce tomato and onion on the side since it came with the bun only.
(3)John F.
I went here with some friends to do some drinking. The train wreck was a good bar but the rest of the places around here were either closed or dead. So if you're going out for the night and want to hit more than one bar I wouldn't go here but if you just want dinner and/or a couple drinks this is not a bad choice.
(3)Manny T.
I was in St. Louis for business and I ended up here after a long day of meetings with some coworkers. This place had a fun vibe and just an overall comfortable feel to it. I would definitely come back to it if I ever found myself in the area once more. I had the steak and shrimp for dinner and was not disappointed.
(5)Kamala B.
Loved the burger I had! It was nice weather and we enjoyed sitting outside on a warm evening. The service was ok, not memorable either way. They were packed tho, which is a good sign.
(4)Stephen G.
(2)Laurie K.
Good food. Great waitress, Holly. The chicken Dijon was huge. A little messy but worth it.
(5)Harper Z.
(2)Doug K.
Awesome food, drinks and live music but the classic rock cover bands tend to draw the older crowds.
(3)Bootsy B.
Pretty good spicy chicken sandwich. Fried pickles were not that great. My son loved watching the train go around.
(4)Samantha K.
Food is decent. Dancing is silly. Have had some great cover bands. Fairly noisy and hard to stick together as a group. There's also this sewage smell that wafts around near the front bar. I prefer the bar near the patio.
(3)Jarrett T.

(3)Amanda S.
(2)Julia G.
(3)Bernie D.

(2)Steve C.
Food is good, prices are fine. It gets really busy for lunch and has taken up to 45 minutes to get our food. I'd eat here again maybe when it's not as busy or I have some time to kill.
(3)Stewart P.
(3)Sarah S.
